What I Did This Summer

My name is Catherine, I usually go by Cat to most people except my professors. So this was my last summer as a high school student. It was also a summer of firsts for me. I graduated from high school, without crying may i add, and I went to my senior prom with a friend . Needless to say it was a great time. I took many pictures to capture the memories of it all. The day after my senior prom I went to my first day of work at Five Guys in East Greenbush. This was something new for me because it was my first real job without a family member. 5 Guys is a fast food restaurant that sells hamburgers, and fries with some other stuff like grilled cheese and hot dogs. I learned a lot about how to deal with the public. Some people have no respect for others and some people just can bring a smile to your face without even trying. I also had my first car this summer. It was actually my mom's old car, but she let me use it for my job. I planned on having it until I came to Saint Rose. Well, that didn't happen. I was driving around East Greenbush with my friend one day and I will admit I was not paying as much attention as I should have been. So you can probably figure this out. There was a car in front of me who was stopped to make a left hand turn, and I crashed into her. Luckily no one was seriously hurt. But that taught me a lesson about why we should always watch the road. I also spent a lot of time this summer with some new friends that I met back in March. They are some of the most amazing people I know and I miss all of them while I'm here. They all have cars, so I’m waiting for them to come visit me!! I also went with to Long Island for about 4 days with my family the first week in August. I met my friend Dan who goes here one night and we had a nice chat. We are not in the same major but we are in the same residence hall so I get to see him often. I also did some shopping for school throughout the summer. I bought a lot of clothes and a lot of stuff to keep myself organized during my first year such as notebooks, pens, pencils, and highlighters. This was going to be my first "real world" experience. My parents told me many times to always be organized with school and my room because I’m going to be sharing my room with someone else. This was also going to be quite a change for me because I’m an only child so I’m not used to sharing my space with someone else. However, since my roommate has been here we have gotten along great!
